Hey Mon! Our wonderful team of 14 has made it to Jamaica and been spreading the love of Christ! God is so good. He has truly anointed our team and we would like to share some things that has happened so far this week!
Sunday: We preached 4 different church services. And in those services, 52 salvations came forward! PRAISE GOD! The first service was preached by Alison, she spoke to us about the key's for the favor of the Lord. C-Confident; we need to have our hearts healed and let our baggage go. C-Committed; to be ALL IN. C-Consistent; we need to build something that will last and not be driven by emotions. C-Contributor; Do not just show up, we need to use our gifts. C-Caring; Care about what God cares about. Within that, we talked about how we need to "Not come to be served, but come to serve." That is what this trip is all about. Coming to serve others and denying ourselves. In our norm of life, this is something 99% of us do not do. Whether we realize it or not, our culture can be so self-centered and selfish. It's all about us and what people can do for us instead of what we can do for others. Our mission team is changing that!
Doug spoke at our second service on HEALING. We need to drink water, eat healthy, and exercise to live a healthy life. "Renew your youth like Eagles!" Take your medicine. also, take your biblical medicine by reading the word everyday.
Donna spoke at our thrid service and God again used Donna to focus on HEALING.. H-health, E-eating, A-annointed, L-life/death is in the power of the tongue. She encouraged us to see what is on our plate, and if it is fear, then we need to take it off of our plate! We listened to the words of that song, "Fear is a liar". People came forward and received their healing. We learned how to break the spirit of fear. One way fear is broken is by fasting.
Clarence spoke at the fourth service, and unfortunately we (Wesley and Stephanie) missed it. But, we did catch the end of it. AND IT WAS GOOD! He preached from Jeremiah Chapter 21. He taught us that God has a purpose and plan for your life. We can learn that plan by seeking God and humbling ourselves before him. There was a powerful altar call that night and many people gave their life to the Lord.
Monday: We went to the women's center (unwed mothers) and visited with the girls and their babies. My heart became so full, and during our visit there. Judy shared a powerful testimony about how God had a beautiful plan for her life. Semone also shared a testimony and the girls could relate to her because she was actually born in Jamaica but hasn't been home in 21 years! Hannah, the youngest member of our group shared from her heart how she called on Jesus to save her and now loves Him with all of her heart. She is the same age as most of the mothers (16 yrs) so you could heart a pin drop when she was sharing! Alison gave the girls an opportunity to give their whole heart to Jesus. 20 girls gave responded and tears were shed. The four men on our team stood up front to represent the Heavenly Father and gave each girl a godly father hug. I don't think there was a dry eye in the place. PRAISE GOD!
We also went to the St. James Infirmary. The infirmary was eye opening for sure. Rows of bedridden men just waiting to meet Jesus! Seeing how happy they were to have visitors, made our hearts happy. We had the opportunity to give them a baseball cap and a cross necklace as well as sing with several of them and rub lotion on their hands. It was a very rewarding day as each of us were used by God to touch people with God's love in life changing ways!
Wesley preached Monday night and our dance team danced to "Break every chain". The response from this was nothing short of the Holy Spirit moving. People gave their life to Christ and many responded to the message. He preached on how we're tempted to sin and shared how Jesus dealt with temptation and what the bible says about temptation. It was a powerful service!
Tuesday: We visited Blossom Gardens orphanage and were able to hold little babies and pray over them. We also played with toddlers and claimed their little souls for the kingdom of God! I knew this would be hard, but with God's protection, we were able to visit these kids and not bring them home! (Secretly we all wanted to, but in reality we couldn't. HA)
Tuesday afternoon we actually had a picnic in the park and then were able to shop a little bit on Jamaica's famous 'Hip Strip". Even with a travel warning not to come to this island, we have felt the presence of the Lord covering us and protecting us. We have not been afraid.
Tuesday night was a powerful service where Donna gave her testimony and the dance team danced to "In the Eye of the Storm" which happens to be one of the pastor's favorite songs! He asked us to do it again at the end of the service. Alison preached a message on what to do when you are having a bad day. Her 7 points were from the 7 things Jesus spoke from the cross- the worst day in history. It was an anointed message and many people came forward to receive what they needed from God- salvation. healing and even deliverance took place at the altar.
We ended the day with team time on the roof. I would tell you what we did, but I am going to encourage you to come on a mission trip one day and FIND OUT!
Wednesday: Today we went to a preschool to sing with and to love on the kids. They also taught us a few songs to take home. Can't wait to teach my child these wonderful songs. The children in Jamaica are so well disciplined and so respectful. They teach the young children chapters of the Bible to memorize!
Tonight we will be ministering at a wonderful church in Flankers. Doug will be preaching and some of us will share testimonies so continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Not only is God touching the hearts of the Jamaican people, He is touching the hearts of the people on our team. We are getting close to one another and definitely closer to God!
So far I have noticed a few things. 1. The people of Jamaica seem much nicer than we are in America. 2. The people here know scripture better than most of us Christians in America. 3. Their water is so BEAUTIFUL! So far we have had 80 people make decisions for Christ in just 3 short days! ALL GLORY AND PRAISE GO TO GOD!
