Greetings from Johannesburg, South Africa (S.A.)! Can we start by telling you how absolutely BEAUTIFUL this country is and its people? The history is so rich and the culture is so eclectic: white, black, Indian, French, German, and countless beautiful medleys of skin tones make a room of a hundred people look like framed artwork. It’s amazing to see so many people of all walks of life and we’ve only been here for about six hours!
We left Atlanta on Thursday at about 8:00 p.m. EST and flew 15 hours into S.A. S.A. is about six hours ahead of Atlanta. So if you do the math, we literally flew almost an entire day. Our hosts, Pastors Peter & Tammy and Colin & Cindy, of ACTS Christian Church were so gracious to receive us from the airport early Friday evening about 6:00 p.m. local time. Our team of twelve (Chuck, Alison, Mark, Elizabeth, Thomas, Sheena, Ciara, Alexis, Kayla, Stefanie, and Will) had dinner with the pastors and their families on Friday night. Yes the food here is IMPECCABLE!
But even more impeccable is God’s love for the people in this region. We at Cross Point believe that God is such a good Father who genuinely wants the very best for his children in this life and the next. He wants us to spend eternity in Heaven which comes through salvation; and He wants us to have an abundant life here on Earth, which comes through yielding to His Spirit. Our primary objective as missionaries is to simply communicate the love of the Father in the way that He feels best.
We are excited to serve those in need. We are honored to give. We are passionate about being used by God so that people can come to know Jesus. We are head over heels in love with the mere thought of God being exalted in S.A.
So as the team prepares to get some rest for a day of ministry tomorrow, as we eagerly anticipate be serving at ACTS Christian Church Women’s Renew Conference, we want to leave you with this passage of Scripture that is near and dear to our hearts and our foundation for our time here…
“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord’s favor has come, and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies.” – Isaiah 61:1-2
Peace + Blessings,
