celebratory Our morning began with great anticipation. Our team had witnessed a mighty move of God with the Acts of Love leadership team last night. With our final day of going out into the community to share the love of Jesus upon us, it was apparent that many team members were looking forward to what exciting thing God would do next.
His sweet presence accompanied and met us at the Bodirammogo Elderly Home, where 17 residents from a local community receive care and attention from 10 care givers. It was such a joy to spend time listening to and loving on the residents. We gave the women residents hand massages, while all received gifts and food from our team. Mark offered words of appreciation and encouragement while Alexis invited us to join her in praising God, as she danced to gospel artist CeCe Winan’s Alabaster Box. Before leaving we were able to pray with and for the care givers and the residents. It truly was a sweet time of sharing together.
We then went to Acts Christian Church North campus, where the upperclassmen of Acts School joined us for a time of worship and sharing. Alexis led the students in a fun, celebratory dance exercise. She and Will then offered words of encouragement based on Psalms 119:14, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Alison led the students in a prayer of salvation. Many of the students came forth to receive a blessing from our team.
Our day concluded with a memorable trip to the Miriam Makeba Girls Home. From the moment we entered the home where the girls live, we were welcomed with hugs and smiles. It was obvious that a strong relationship had been built between Cross Point Ministries and the ladies of the home, one that predated our arrival. After brief introductions we gathered outdoors under the moonlight amidst a cool breeze to share personal stories of pain, love and triumph in Jesus Christ. Walter from Acts Church as well as Sheena and Thomas testified to the transformative power of God. Their sharing gave the girls of the Makeba Home the courage to tell their stories. The moment became ripe for a move of God. Chuck and Alison led us all in the powerful exercise of giving the things on our heart over to Jesus, and receiving from Him His special and specific gift to each of us. As the girls wept and our tears flowed, a lightness came upon us all. A great exchange had taken place and oh, how beautiful and grace-filled it was!
Having given and received, it was time to celebrate! The girls of the home were able to shop and choose gifts from the store of items our team brought. We danced, ate ice cream, laughed, took pictures and closed the night out with heartfelt goodbyes. There was something so special about this night. It was not evident to the naked eye, but there was a knowing that our lives had collided in a Godly way. We each, in our time of sharing and connecting, had been woven into each others lives for a purpose that only heaven knows. For that, we are exceedingly grateful!
Peace + Blessings,
